Juno Says: Hoiiiiii Ame~!!! :D Wow, is this REALLY your FIRST CG (my first CG was horrible... I'm embarrassed o_o) Your character is SOOOOO cute! Great job onthe hair and facial expression, you have great talent for a 12-year old (I will never be showing any of my artwork from under 14 years ever again after this!!!) Let's see... looks like Keiiii already made comments on the stuff you asked for. :D (and yeah, I didn't even think about shoes at your age either!!!) Some general advice, though, is to KEEP PRACTICING. You know, I learned a lot about cloth and hands by copying them from comic books. Even though people will tell you not to do that, you actually SHOULD. Why? Because by copying (even tracing!) you are actually training your hand into learning how to draw long, fluid lines (like in long hair, or dresses) and sharp, clean lines (like folds in cloth, or even the face.) After doing that, you will get a better understanding of how things work because you went through the process of executing those lines. Though, make sure you don't copy so much that you start to DEPEND on it to draw. Eventually, you have to force yourself to find your own original way of drawing (style) by using what you learned from copying. (Man, I hope this is making sense ;_;) This is what you do: 1) Find a decently detailed picture with a lot of CURVY lines (I suggest you get something that's out of a comic book: then it will photocopy better and it will have nice, sharp lines.) 2) Get a mess of tracing paper and regular printer paper. Whatever is good for you. 3) Trace the picture several times, until you can draw it from memory. 4) Draw the picture from memory somewhere. This might be kinda boring, but TRUST ME. This is how I began, and no doubt, many other artists began the same way. Like I said before, this trains your hand into getting USED to drawing long, strong, smooth lines. I've noticed that your lines are strong and confident... this is good, especially at 12. Many artists who are much older than you still draw long lines by connecting a whole bunch of small ones.. this is very unprofessional, and it looks bad (._.) Great color sense! Though, be careful with backgrounds. Backgrounds are meant to enhance what's in the front, not draw attention away from them. The watery background you used draws attention away from the anime/cel style way you colored your character. You have a good sense of perspective (distance between objects, basically) which is also very good. I hope this helped.. sorry it's so long! Please feel free to email me if you have any questions regarding anything I've said above. XD Hope to see your art again soon~! Good luck~!

Keiiii Says: Hoi~! Cute picture there ^^ How the platform (?) seems to be coming out of a magical portal, I like! Although I'm not sure if it's the intended depiction, it looks cool. ^^ Hmm... I didn't even *care* about how shoes looked in my pictures when I was at your age. O_o; I think you're doing fine/did a good job on this picture though~ But as for clothes... it needs more folds~ And the folds that are there already might look better if they weren't blurred. And when you hold your skirt that way, your skirt doesn't fall straight down like that for the most part. The folds create an upside down arch with its ends on the hands holding the skirt. The rest of the skirt (well, the part from the waist and down ^^) depends on how much of the skirt the character is holding... If she's holding a whole bunch of skirt fabric (as if she need to walk across a stream without getting the skirt wet), *all* of the skirt seen from the front will turn into an arch of folds. If she's holding a teeny bit of skirt, the arch won't be much more than a couple subtle folds, with the rest of the skirt falling down. At any rate, the arch should be there, it's just the amount that will differ. I recommend that ye try wearing one and holding it in front of a large mirror... ^^

Now hands. Actually, I don't think the hands look bad in this picture... most of the hands are hidden behind the skirt anyway. ^^; But if you were going for a non-SD, more realistic body proportions, the hands should be much larger, at least as long as from the end of the chin to the eyebrows when put over the face. And if the realistic body proportions was what you were going for, the character should be taller too, I think. Her face looks somewhere around 14-17 years of age, which means her full height should be at *least* five times longer than the height/length of her head... But if you were going for SD style, I think a lot of the proportions is left to the freedom of the artist, except... maybe make her a bit more plump for extra cuteness~ ^o^

Hum... the rest of the character is well done, I think ^^ Especially the face! Seeing how I'm feeling ill right now, I should leave examining the shadings and the background work to my fellows before I say something insanely stupid ^O^;;; Good luck with art, you're young, I'm old X_x Good job too!
