Celyne's Profile Lorelai Says: That sketch is really gorgeous, you're blessed with a great skill for real life sketching. I see you want to learn more about anime drawing; In my opinion it is a whole different world, different category. But most people have difficulty going from anime to realism, not the other way around as you say you do! =) I think you will have an easier time making a whole new style of figure, not trying to "deform" your figures so that they seem more anime. I don't really do true anime like some of the other REFFs, but here's my style of mid-deformed figures: EXAMPLE LINK notice that the eyes are enlarged, the facial features simpler than usual. Anime figures tend to be very perfect; even wrinkles are perfect. Also, for young characters, you can elongate the legs and exaggerate the pear shape of women. However, you hafta keep in mind that no amount of advice that I/anyone gives you can be better than simply observing/watching manga and anime. There are many different styles, so you need to choose what you like. Since you are so great at sketching, sketch some anime! Good luck!

Sandara's Profile Sandara-3 Says: ...wow. okay... i'm not familiar with the character you've submitted, but it's a good sketch. however, at your level, sketching is just.... how should i put it... you can do better than just sketches. color, more dynamic poses, etc. ( also, it's a good idea to use photoshop to reduce the size of your picture and do a little editing ) about drawing anime. one of the key features of manga/anime is that the drawing is very clean. all the lines are drawn in one stroke, unlike the pencil and charcoal style. so you might want to buy/make a light-box and learn to do inking. to adapt better, you might want to look at Amano's art. it's rather similar to your style .( as in his lines are not that clean, except for the faces ) meaning of clean lines ---> look at fellow artist Carrie-Chan's inking. ( the Bart-Id picture) to draw SD.... uh...i suppose the by drawing the eyes to take up 50% of the face + a silly expression ( that is usually out-of-character ) = SD style.^_^ in this style, it is even more important to keep your lines clean. in manga/anime, a lot of attention is put into the hair and eye detail. ( this is one of the things that define shoujo manga ^__^) ..... finally, a sure way of learning this style is to watch anime and read manga everyday. ^_^

Young's Profile Young Wang Says: Wow. Very nice work. I can't draw like this, actually.. I see people who draw like this and I'm always astonished because I have to use 'bubbles' to plan my pictures before sitting down to draw. =) Hmm.. advice on how to draw comic style? It's actually not bad in the style it's in. If you inked those lines, it would actually be quiet good. When I do my anime pictures, I tend to do only the lines which are creases in skin, edges, or distinguishing contours. The line/shading you have would have to be removed if you wanted to color it in the 'comic' style, or at least inked as a series of lines. Actually, I think you could probably teach me a thing or two on how to draw. =)
