Kyubi Kitsune Says: Hoi Jinn~! I must say that there really isn't much to
say in way of critiquing how you drew this piece because it is highly stylized.
Your subject matter calls upon the horror of war: the bleeding boy and the
screaming man in the background. What you draw and how you draw it plays a big role
in the outcome of this piece. What I see is a good individual expression of war.
The sketchy lines help create a feeling of active movement, of confusion. You need
to think for a few seconds what the image in the background is. The bleeding boy
gives the viewer a sense of revulsion, of disgust. All of these things help aid in
the message your piece is trying to give.
Now to make a stronger piece, think about what you drew. Does it satisfactorily
express your idea of war? What other images can you incorporate into to further add
to the feeling of confusion and atrocity? Do the colors do your image justice? It's
a great piece that I feel is in its working stage. Good luck!

Juno Kim Says: What's up, Jinn?! and bold coloring rather than blending not
only emphasizes the light. This is an AWESOME illustration XD I love the mood, and
the "war" graphics in the background. The color face in the front is very well
done; your use of dramatic source but the entire mood as well. The only
suggestions I would make to your rendition comes down to two things, both of which
are quite minor: 1)the chin stands out very much, almost to a point in which it
looks as if it's sticking out. Maybe fill in the white spot a bit more? and 2) The
white figure in the background may be distracting to the subject at hand. Though
it IS part of the subject, I suggest that you blur it out... just so much so that
it doesn't outshine the foreground while being clearly distinguishable. Excellent
work, Jinn! :D Ciao for now XD

Nicole Eng Says: You've certainly created a very powerful, stunning piece.
For once, the focus is not on the technique of the drawing, but more on the theme.
The screaming, negative image of the face in the background, and the bloodied,
beaten face of the child in the foreground are at once disturbing and intriguing.
I'm interested - just looking at the image, I'm curious to the background story
behind this piece (if there is one). Ordinarily I would nag about the rough lines
left in, but here, the rawness of the lines (almost like the rawness of the theme)
seems to contribute to the image. Good work here - certainly very different and
original.
A little extra: The caption "War... Makes Good Art" suddenly brought to mind
another quote: "Should (or can) art be made out of atrocity?"
