Final Fantasy VII Fan Art
Artwork by RainCrystal

Specialty in Art: Portrait

Specialty in Medium: Markers

Self-estimated level: Beginner

Artist's Comments: I'd like to know more about posing people so they look all right... also about doing pictures with more than one person (something I very rarely do.)
I've been trying to draw for a long time, but I think I still can't get people and their poses right, so I classified myself as a beginner. This picture (as it says on my website) is of Sephiroth as a child. The other person in the picture is me. (It's a long story.)

Lorelai Says: Hoi hoi Raincrystal!!! This picture is so cute! Fanart is more meaningful when we put ourselves "into" it, but you did it literally! Wow! =D you have a really great look of compassion and care on your face, and sephiroth does indeed look like a helpless little kid running for open arms. =) great job there! It's small details you should work on now, like anatomy: there are portions of your legs, Seph's face, the hair, etc. that are not drawn correctly. For example, legs are muscled and curved, but they are straight and stiff in the picture. Something's odd about the foot too...basically i think the picture is missing a couple of curves here and there! The mitten hands are a bit strange too O.o I do have to say the coloring is pretty googily, though!!! Also, you may want to consider inking your picture for a more refined look, and watch out when drawing hair...it's true I always advice that one only draw representative hair strands, but don't space them out so evenly...that makes it look like one big solid mass. great job, and keep up the great work! (it was also great meeting you at Otakon~~!)

Keiiii Says:Hoi~ Lovely pic~! Your choice of colors are particularly great - making the whole pic look balanced. Pose is hard! You need to study mainly three things to learn poses - perspective, proportions, and where/how the human body bends. Let's see... You~! When you're sitting down like that, your feet are supposed to be touching the buttocks. And you're not bending your right knee straight; it seems as if it's bent towards the left instead of straight. Otherwise, good job! ^^ Hum~ Now Sephie. He's really alright, but the viewpoint is a wee bit off around his legs. Here are some sketches of the same body part at different viewpoints~ In this case, the best viewpoint seems to be B, since it matches with the rest of his body. ^^ Finally, the way you drew his ear is kinda vague... is it the back of his ear (which is what it should be), or the front? It sort of seems like the front. It should be the back of his ears that's seen in the pic since the rest of him is turned back too~
