Artist's Comments: I'd like to be able to do work like this outta my own imagination, not just copying it directly (such as in this case). But I want my copying skills to be good too. I'd like to improve my colour mixing with paint. I'd like to improve my choices of colours.
This was copyed from a picture that I found on the net. I'm hoping to start doing more original work soon, but since I'm still a beginner at painting I'm not too concerned about originality yet. But how are my painting skills?

Kitsune Says: Hoi Krystl~!! This is a great copy~~ I think I've seen the
original picture before and this is a nice copy! I understand what you mean about
originality when learning how to do things and I think it's important to get the
basics down. On the same token, it's also good to try new things, different
techniques, and experiment. Copying is one way of doing things, but it can be a
little restrictive.
In this piece, the picture is a little too small for me to see all the details of
your brush strokes or what type of surface you used. I'm assuming that you used
acrylics for this piece~ I know how difficult it is to work that medium and I think
you did a good job getting that color down flat and pretty even! (and the kanji is
picture perfect! XD)
You really did a great job! I hope to see even more of your paint pieces in the
future~! XD XD XD

Lorelai Says: Hello!!! Yes, I recognize this picture of Kaoru~! She's very
well done. I like the coloring and the kimono is very well rendered to be true to
life. However keep in mind that replicating an official artwork is going to give
you some skewed results; your shading looks really good, but I'm not sure if it's
because you had an *exact* example to look off of, or if youreally understand it.~!
^_^ Let's see...what else. Her head is a bit too slanted...heads are round in the
back. Also, her profile: the forehead and chin are a bit flat...even for anime ^_^
(actually anime tends to exaggerate profiles...) I'd really reccommend looking at
real people for profiles, get a sense of how the human face is constructed.
Finally, her hair is a little stiff, and I suspect it's because of your CG style.
It..is CG isn't it? O_O don't "fill in" her hair color...use a pen, or airbrush, or
something, and make some strokes. Of course, if you want to keep it cel style, just
make sure that the outline of the hair makes "sense" i.e. not chunky at odd places,
and...color inside the lines, i guess ^_^;;;; Hope this helps!!!

Laine Says: hooohooo i feel so happy whenever i see RK fanart XD XD well
leseee...it's a good copy , better than mine first which made a girl look like
Conan :P her face is a wittle skewed..and her head shouldnt be slanting so down =/
her kimono looks a little large..and as kits mentioned her hair is a little stiff
ne ! sometimes when you copy , it's very hard to get it exactly as it looks in the
original because we all have our own styles we lean towards... i definately cant
copy xerox-esque stuff now even TT;; the edges on the coloring are a little rough ,
need to clean that up and use the brush with more fluidity so that the strokes will
fly smoothly from your brush ! :D .if youre not using sables then get a set now !
^^ gambare and spread the fanart love of RK ! =D
