Artist's Comments: Anything that could be improved (mainly on the CGing)
This is my first time coloring a picture in cell style (however you call it). I used Adobe Photoshop 4.0 in this picture. It took me more than ten hours to complete this. This picture is of an original character of mine, since I enjoy writing fantasy stories.

Setsuna Says: Ooh, very nicely detailed coloring. I really like the design
of the staff. The face is also quite nicely done. However, on second glance, the
position of the hands looks a little strange - both of them are just resting on the
staff. Neither of them is gripping the entire weight of the shaft (which looks to
be simple sticking to the palms). I'd recommend you redraw the bottom hand to wrap
around the shaft, gripping it tightly as it'd be a substantially heavy on that end
of the weapon.
The upper torso down to the pelvis is quite nicely drawn (again, very nice coloring
job!), but I'd recommend that you check the position of the the feet in the image.
The feet seem to be twisting in a different direction than the body, with no weight
on them. Probably a better position (and maybe a bit easier to draw) would be to
have the legs spread shoulder width apart, facing (or turned out slightly) towards
the front (then you don't have complications with the fabric twisting and such).
As for the flowing cloth of the lower body, I can understand how difficult it is to
capture the draping against the legs. Sometimes just winging it works, but other
times, it's helpful to stand in front of a mirror, with perhaps a piece of cloth
draping around your waist to study the folds.
Kudos to you for the extra detail on the jewel on the weapon, as well as the well
proportioned face, and the nicely flowing hair. Good job! This is only a few steps
to becoming perfect.

Maggie Says: Wow!! I don't know why your so worried about your CGing! its
really very good! I love the skin tones and I really like the hair. If there is one
CG hting I'd like to bring your attention to is maybethe folds in the middle of the
bottom half of the outfit. You only would put a single line of darker coloring.
usualy when clothes fold like that I would make a little bit of a larger shadow,
and maybe some highlighting would be nice there too. like some white or light blue.
I dunno, its just a thought. And also I was wondering about the legs. They seem a
little twisted in a wierd way from the rest of you body. Look at the pic as a
whole (like the entire pic at once, not jus different parts at a time) and see if
you see what I mean. It's just a littke wierd to me. but i meanthe background is
really cool and I like the light at the bottom! thats cool and the coloring on the
staff is really nice too! I hoe I helped some!! good luck!

Ryuuzaki Says: Hey there. Mmm...so ye wanna be critiqued on your coloring?
Welp, since it's supposed to be cell-style, there's not much I can say. The
shading on the dress is a little odd...it looks like the light source is mainly
coming from the top, but there's an obvious light source from the bottom. You might
want to consider some more highlights, not just in the jewel of her staff. It
heightens the contrast and give a picture more life. That's all I can say bout
your coloring. =)
What usually happens is people are too worried bout how their CG coloring to work
on the most important part: the basics. I think your coloring is fine for now.
What you do need to work on is drapery and human figure. The folds in the dress
and the leg placement look a little weird. Upper legs are too long. They're
twice the length of the upper body, when they should be just slightly longer than
the upper body. I think the shading on the dress is off because you don't have
natural-looking folds in there. Yup yup, so I'd say great work in the CG, it
obviously looks like you spent a great deal of time coloring, but now human figure
and drapery need some love. =)
