Juno Says: Hoii there, Red Chocbo~! :D
Lessee... anatomy, huh? :D Well.. during the first few steps, studying anatomy would be easier if the figure was standing up, but it's all good ^^ Anatomy is a hard subject... the best way to get experience with it would be to draw from real life.. heck, even from photographs and other pictures, even. Anyway, I'll touch upon the following:
1) Line work: forgive me for the bluntness, but the linework is kinda.. messy. It's hard to tell what's happening because all of the lines are the same size and on the same plane. The colors, though, help in distinguishing. It looks like Izlude is sitting on a rock..? Assuming that he is, it looks as if the rock has a hole in it and he's sitting in that hole. Reason: his midsection is not visible. Even if he is resting his elbows on his knees, that would cause his back to bend and form a curve, not be hidden by his arms and knees entirely. Separate his lower part and his upper part a bit more, and add the curved back.. this will connect his body and make him look as he's leaning over. ^^
Some other little nitpicky things:
2) The hand that's on his chin... the thumb and pinky are switched. The pinky is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS towards the inside (and this goes for BOTH hands, no matter WHAT they're doing.)
3) when drawing eyes, try to keep them the same size... Izlude's left eye (his left) is much larger than his right eye.
4) Give Izlude more forehead... his eyebrows are at the same place of where his hair begins. Also, lower the ear.. the ear should be level with the eyes. ^^
5) Izlude's left foot (his left) looks awkward because it is facing outward while his knee is inward. With the particular pose you chose to portray him in, his knees should probably be farther apart, and his feet should be parallel to his knees.
6) The shadow under the rock looks distant because it's not connected to anything entirely. Because of that, the shadow doesn't add much weight to your picture... connect it a bit more, and it should be okay ^^
Well, hope this helped! The best of luck.. keep drawing! :D Ciao for now~

Meriko Says: Anatomy, okie! Let's see...this guy's got a few problems. Nothing we can't fix with a bit of practice, though!
Eh, first thing. His right hand is on his left arm. Unless this character has a past involving a bad accident and an equally bad doctor, this is wrong. ^^;;; The hand is actually done nicely...it's just backwards. One thing I do a lot is to actually pose myself just like the person I'm drawing. That helps me to determine if the pose is unnatural or impossible. If you can't do it...then in most cases, your chara can't either. ^^;;;
The sitting pose is simple, and what's great is, easy to pose for and study. Go get a chair, sit down, and look in the mirror for proportions. Heck, bring your sketchbook with you and sit it on your lap! Then, you can constantly check your "resource image" (you) to see if your sketch is turning out right.
I say this to pretty much everyone I crit...but it's good advice! Sketch the figure out with circles and ovals and such. Oval head, column neck, large square-ish shape for torso, etc. That way, you can check your proportions. For instance, in this pic, the guy seems to be missing a good deal of his torso as well as his upper legs...unless the rock has a huge hole in the middle, and his behind is stuck in it. ^^;;; We're looking at him from a 45 degree angle, so if he's so hunched over that his chin is only a foot higher than his bent knees, we should be able to see his lower back and fanny sticking out to the right at least a little.
Get a few sheets of paper and practice! ^^ I drew a quickie sample for ya of the circle/oval method I was talking about. Oh, also...I think the top of his head should be taller. The eyes are generall in the middle of the head, and the hairline's a little more than halfway up from the eyes.
Getting proportions and bodies right is just all about study and practice. Find out proportions by studying pictures...you know, like the head is 1/5 to 1/6 of the body, etc. And then just practice.
Smaller details like the size of your foot can also be found out through your own body. Did you know that your foot is as long as the space between the crook of your elbow to the wrinkles on your wrist? ^^

Lorelai Says: OMG....izlude ^_______^ I wove izlude!!! You have won me!!! ^____^ Ok to the crit..um...I cannot figure out what sort of acrobatic pose Izlude is in ^_^ it looks like he's crouching and contemplating...but your groundmark lines (in front of him) make him look like he's floating in the air!!! I suggest putting in a horizon line, if you plan to keep the background completely white, in order to put him on a ground. His left arm looks really weird...his thumb should be on the other side of his face, unless he's doing some reallllly weird contortion with his forearm. I would like to compliment the way you did his armor...it looks very shiny and metallic, just as it should! Kudos to you on that! ^_^ I'm gonna leave the crit stuff here, cuz I think I shouldn't overload you with a bunch of stuff...for the next drawing/CG you do, I'd just suggest that you first lay out the person's entire body with "circles and toothpicks" on the paper first, make sure you know which way fingers should be going, and which way legs can bend and which way they can't. also, make sure you put in a horizon line so your character stays on the ground. After that, you'll be more than ready to work on some fine details. ^_^ Great work!!! Keep up the mad SKILLLZ!!!
