Hanna's PictureHanna Says: Hello Rufuboy! Your drawing of Lance is so cute! The pose is great, it seems to capture this character's personality very well. (I don't know this character, but from your drawing I am guessing he's a very confident kid? ^_^) The colours you chose for shading are very nice, though you could make it look even better by trying to be more 'daring' with how you shade it. It seems like you used one or two colours for each area, with different pressure (I'm looking at the inside of his cape), and therefore did not turn out very solid. You can try colouring the inside of the cape all red, then use brown or a darker red for the dark parts. Another (minor) thing... ^_^" is his ear... the inside of his ear is missing (?!), but maybe it's the style? Overall the pencil crayon technique is good, keep on going with it! ^_^ It's a great medium to work with.

Lorelai's Picture Lorelai Says: Hey there! You've got a lot of the basics down already, so good job there! He's got a good post, and a good smirk on his face like you meant to. ^_^ However, your shading seems haphazard. I can see that you know his hair isn't supposed to be all one color, and his cape is carefully shaded in two reds...but those shadows aren't completely real. The best way to remedy this is to observe photographs and real life. Pay attention to how the sun creates shine and shadow. Take a few pictures as references. Soon, realistic shading will become second nature. Also, be confident in your lines! most of the picture is great, but sometimes your hold on the human animetomy (hehe, anime + anatomy) wobbles sometimes. Keep it up!

Sandara's Picture Sandara-3 Says: Hi! He looks cool, but it'd be cooler if you included in his pokemon as well... try to draw group pictures, or with some action in them, eg. Lance calling on his pokemon, Lance beating Ash to a pulp with his pokemon, etc... try to work on your color pencil shading, as it has a very "hard" look. the light and dark areas are too defined, making the picture look stiff. other than that, it's a good picture. ^_^
