Artist's Comments: I would like suggestions on my drawing/shading style, or any other comments that could help my work
I usually just work on pencil sketches, but I'm hoping to color my work on the computer. This piece of work is my first attempt at coloring a piece of art on the computer. I think that it's okay, but I'm also wondering what the "professional" opinion of my work is.

Meriko Says: Nice work! ^^ Espesh for a first CG!
The lineart seems to have some...I don't know...extra fuzzies around the edges, though. I'm not sure what program you're using to color, but hopefully it has a magic wand type tool where you can select colors to erase. If not, then just magnify the pic and have fun with the eraser. ^^;;; It makes the finished picture much neater.
Also, I'd love to see this more boldly shaded! ^^ You've got some shading on the skin, but the hair and clothes aren't shaded much/at all. Oh, and if the light source is lower left, then ye might want to add some shadows on the right side of the hands.
And this could be your style, but I'm wishing that this person had...pupils. ^^;;; It's a bit disconcerting to look into someone's eyes and see nothing but pale green...
Anyways, great pic! Keep CG-ing!

Setsuna Says: As Meriko mentioned, the line art is kinda fuzzy. You might want to alter the levels and contrast/brightness of the sketch before you start CG'ing - it saves you alot of trouble later on. (especially when you use the magic wand tool...!)
Is that a cloud texture I see on the shirt? Cleverly done.
Anyway, I see a need for a higher contrast, and darker shading thoughout the image. Add some shading over the shirt to show that it's just as rounded and solid as the skin. Hmm, a nitpick - it seems that you relied on the magic wand tool to select the skin tones, but you left out (intentionally?) adding the whites of the eyes...

Dragonfly Says: Well seeing how you're just starting out in coloring, this piece is a pretty good effort.
I think the main problem with the piece though, is there's no real light source to it. This is something you really need to pick out before going in and laying out the colors.
I see you have cell style coloring on the skin tone, but not anywhere else. Adding the same coloring style to the other parts of the drawing would be a good idea I think, especially to the hair.
As for the coloring itself, I really like the texture you did on her sweater^^
