Artist's Comments: Hmmm .... whoa I don't know. I'd like to improve how my drawings look in general, and things like perception is always a problem to me. I'd also like to learn how to actually color ... Hah. I'd like my drawings to look ... natural and comfortable, instead of being awkward. I hope I'm explaining things well enough.

On 'specialty': I've always loved making my own original characters, like those that would appear in RPG's and comics. I don't have it on my webpage though, because I'm too paranoid someone will take my ideas ... Other than that I love doing portraits for characters in MUDs, because it's a character created by others, and I'm making it into a visual.

On mediums: Mainly I've always been working with normal mechanical pencils. I have been trying to figure out how to do those "CG"s, and figure out how to use Photoshop. I also think I have -just- been ... 'enlightened,' with using markers and non-digital ways to color things. Now I have no idea how to use those so I need to learn somehow ...

Juno Says: Hoiii, Kaisou~! Ooh, what a marvelous sketch~! :D I favor long, lithe bodies and pointy things XD Anyway, lessee.. perception? I'm figuring you mean.... perspective? ^_^ Well, based on what I see in this sketch, I think you have the basics down really well. Your linework is relatively smooth and have that controlled confident look, which is good :D Keeping in mind that this is a sketch, it's very well done. ^_^ As for making it look more "natural and comfortable," I guess that comes with time, and experience ^_^
Lessee.. I think the body proportion is fone, though the head might be a LITTLE ITTY BITTY too small. But it's all good, nothing even noticeable unless you decide to be super-picky. :D The face is well done.. you have body proportion down well. I see a slight Urushihara Satoshi influence... yes? :D The upper torso is great, but the body seems to have gotten bigger below the hips. The legs are a bit stiff, and the feet are too big and turned outward too much to look natural. I suggest that you bring in the feet a bit, and shrink her hips while rounding out her thighs. Also, you've got the fluidness of the cape down.. a bit more detail should give it that smashing touch.
Great job, Kaisou~! Keep practicing, and as you draw more and more, work on executing cleaner, stronger, and smoother lines. This skill will help you tremendously in the future. :D Ciao for now~!

Jen Zee Says: Okely-dokely! AWESOME SKETCH KAISOU! ^_^ I'm loving the style ^_^...I really have a thing for cool, tall, elves ^_~! Haha, anyway, on with the crit!

Well, as for perspective, I think that you don't have too much of a problem with it at all ^_^...Since this is a straight-on pic, I can't really judge that though ^^;;;. However, things are, for the most part, nicely proportioned. The only thing that I'd comment on is the right arm (their right^^), who's upper arm seems to be a tad too long/extended. The upper arm should be about the length of the torso from the outer shoulder to the upper pelvis. So you may want to try shortening that arm a teensy bit^_^.

You've got the 'wind direction' down. It gives the idea of a beginning light breeze...enough to blow their hair and whip their cloak about gently^_^. I love it when people do that ^_^!!!!!!! *gushes*...Haha, okei, anyway.

Your lines are nice and flowing (though sketchy in style), and the folds in clothing are nicely done. I think that the only thing that this piece needs to appear more 'comfortable', is detail. Maybe some finer touches...Often it's the very small things, like a strand of hair or two...that make the big difference in a picture. It comes with practice, basically...It's not really possible to give a tip that will work in every piece....I'm sure you can do it though! Go draw draw draw! ^_~! Hope this helped some! Oh, and as for colouring, I'd really like to help out with those traditional mediums, but I don't know what level you're at since this is a grayscale ^^;;;...Sorry!

Dragonfly Says: Hoi Kaisou~

whoa, this is a really cool sketch, I really like the character design you got here ^^

I see you want to learn how to color your art. Well I think the first thing you need to do, which would help you a lot, would be to try and make your art more cleaner/less sketchy.

By this you can start I guess by cleaning up your pencil work a lot more. Or you can ink your drawings when they're finished.

Anyway keep up the good work, I'd love to see how your art progress' in the future.
