REFF Ramble!
[ Ramble Archive ]
Hoiiiii everyone~ =D After months of rest, ACS is back to work... with changes! We REFFs have been working hard to clean some mess up while taking care of other business, such as REFF application processing... And here's a rundown of what has been changed:
Primary Objective. In the past, we had a little section called "goal" on critique submission form for people to specify which areas they wanted us to concentrate our critiques on. While I think it's good to know what kind of things each artist wants to improve on, the vagueness of it all caused confusion. We changed the form so that you can be more specific about your objective of having the piece critiqued. Thankees to Lorelai for working on the form change!
Detailed media. We received many digital artworks in the past, and often the artist asked for tips regarding the digital medium. This, at least to me, is a question too broad, especially when I don't know *which* program was used. There are so many different choices in digital media nowdays, and while I firmly believe one can achieve desired result using any program, there's no point in writing a four paragraph tiplist on Adobe Photoshop while the person actually used, say, Corel Draw. The traditional media list was also revised so that we can give better critiques.
And last but definitely not least...
Monthly Quota system. Remember how awfully backlogged we got in the past? ^_^;;; It's not that we were bumming out while the critiques were piling up... we just didn't have enough man/womanpower to handle the amount of work that was poured upon us. Now ACS only accepts certain number of critiques per month. Critique requests received after Xth request will thus be denied (it will not be placed in the queue for next monthly time period). This number X varies; when we have more things to deal with (just like right now), we will set a lower number. But when we have more time for TAC works, we will make sure that the quota limit reflects it!
Please take note that quota cleaning (re: bouncing off critique requests that were submitted after X number of crit requests in the queue) is done manually until we can code this into ACS script. We will be checking the queue often to prevent 'whoops, your request's been in the queue for two weeks but you submitted it after the Xth request! Too bad!' kind of situation to the best of our abilities.
Think that's about it... ^^ Thank you all for your patience while ACS was down! We will try to deliver the best critique we can do; please don't hesitate to give us constructive feedbacks that would help us improve our critting.
