REFF Ramble!
This REFF Ramble is brought to you by: Lorelai
Hellooooooooo citizens of Le Art Corner!!! Ack, it's been a while since I wrote a solo ramble ^_^;;; Gomen! I have not
abandoned thee! ^O^ Anyway, I've been taking today easy, sitting back and just sorta...contemplating The Art Corner as a
whole...I'd like to take a moment to say that I am very, very impressed by what I see. Not TAC the website as much as TAC
and the people who make it possible. That's you guys, gals, REFFs, everyone - that's everybody who has stopped to take a
minute and think and support TAC from the day it was born.
I peek in our IRC chatroom now and then,
too, and I am overwhelmed with the headcount in there. It's never empty!!! You guys are amazing. We REFFs appreciate your
support 500% plus a billionjazillion!!! I'm so serious! We're also so glad that the chatroom has helped us get to know you
all better, develop some awesome friendships, both online and IRL...It's just amazing.
Oh right, I nearly carried myself away on the good stuff...i wanted to address an issue with this ramble, and the
issue is the TAC QUEUE. Now, you all know that there have been some serious delays with crits each time the REFFs run out of
spare time...(which is quite often, considering we're all in school/working) And there is always an excess of 50 people
waiting for a critique. Indeed, some people have been surprised with a critique...8 months after they submitted an
application for one!!
Now, I know that many of you are saying, "but my art is WAAAY more improved and
better than what I submitted back then! The crit is useless to me now!" and maybe you are right. But here's what I think:
The crit is not being posted just for *you*. It's being posted to everybody who visits TAC, for everyone who is interested
in the advice we give on this site. if you, the artist, were the ONLY one interested in your critique? do you think we would
have thought of creating this site? We'd just e-mail your crit to you, or something! ^_^ We post crits because it allows
everyone else to learn from your artwork, and our comments...I've received many thank-you e-mails from people saying that
they'd improved their artwork simply by reading other people's critiques, and then learning from their 'mistakes' and
miscellaneous pointers that the REFFs give!! That's what we're striving for here at TAC. Mind you, I'm not making an excuse
for the terribly LOONNNG wait in queue...we've been good with updates recently and we hope to get rid of the ridiculous
queue shortly...but meanwhile, i wanted you all to know that even if your crit is outdated, it is still just as beneficial
to the community!! ^_____^
Over and out,
Lorelai
