    REFF Ramble!

[ Ramble Archive]

Gwee Hiya, REFF Guillaume speaking, I'd just like to take a few lines here to discuss a few things about the ACS. First of all, I'd like to thank everybody for sending feedbacks after having received their critiques, it really helps to know if we're doing a good job or not, and it's pretty cool for us REFFs, since it gives us a little more contact with the artists we critique, which is always nice (contact=GOOD!).

An other minor issue I'd like to discuss is that we strongly encourage you to use the 'comments' field in the submission form to clarify the goals you'd like to reach through the critique, or simply to give us a little more information regarding why you sent your art in. Just a little reminder to those of you who seem a little shy with the comments ;D. Well then, enough of my babbling for today, and keep the good times rolling y'all~ .

Lore Hey guys! REFF Lorelai here to talk about the TAC Oekaki. TACo visitors will notice that we now have two rooms, the Polished Room and the Doodle Room. When the rooms opened, we loosely split the visitors by oekaki skill level and enabled TACo moderators to move pictures from the Polished Room to the Doodle Room if it did not belong. This will continue to be the general case, but in light of recent comments and observations, the REFFs feel it is important to emphasize a new rule, which will be enforced from this point on:

Please understand that the Doodle Room is the PRIMARY oekaki room, aka the default for most oekaki posts. Boiled down, this means that under no circumstances should an oekaki visitor post ONLY in the Polished Room! The Polished Room is for once-in-a-blue-moon oekakis, where you really have time to sit down and be 'polished' about what you're drawing, so that visitors can see the 'best' of your work. We will henceforth discourage people who post only in the Polished Room, regardless of skill level.

Bottom line is, we want to do whatever's best for the TAC oekaki, and we definitely don't want to segregate the TACo artists! Thanks to everyone for your help and support so far.

Dorm Yo, REFF Dormando talking. I have been happily hacking away at a multitude of things over the last few weeks. First you have seen what Lorelai talked about above, with the room switch. Then I added code so we can move oekakis between boards instead of deleting them. Now, I am starting to put a lot of work into the next generation of my Doekaki code. I cannot guarantee a timeframe in which I will have it finished, though. You can look forward to an accounts system, comment notifications/subscriptions, statistics, profiles, archive scripts, and others. I will also probably saunter over to the ACS sometime and nail another feature into it.

The server that hosts Artcorner as well as all other sites on rydia.net will be getting a major speed boost in a week or two. Visitors have probably noticed the site getting progressively slower in the last few months. I apologize, but money does not grow on trees :)
