About the REFFs
We at TAC are a group of young artists originally gathered to help out fellow budding artists by giving critiques that are tactful, personalized and constructive. Today, TAC has grown into an online artist community that serves a lot more than just critiques. But we continue to work on crits as hard as we did before ... if not harder!
Hum, a little history about us...back in 1998, W. Lorelai Wu hired to work as fan artwork curator at a well-known Role-playing site. Rather set on working hard and bringing life to the page, Lorelai began to notice the amount of wonderfully talented artists on the net, and friendships began to form.
Lorelai started a program called 'Critique Corner' on the fanart page, which became quite popular. However, it was both a hassle and too much work for one person to keep up the work, not to mention rather intimidating to be the only one giving art advice. Thus Lore posted a public notice for interests artists to join the conglomeration of critics for Critique Corner's evolved site, soon to be called The Art Corner by popular vote.
Creating TAC was by far the most difficult and arduous task set for the body of artists, who began to call themselves 'REFFs' (Though originally an acronym, we prefer to think of it as a nickname for 'referee' or 'reference' though we are open to acronym suggestions). At first TAC operated as a pure critiquing site, but gradually, the REFFs got to know each other, and new ideas and inspirations began to float around.
As time became more scarce and TAC more popular (but demanding), Lorelai realized her true calling was drawing among the artists, and not curating them. She quit her job as curator, and as a now independent and individual body, the REFFs of TAC worked hard together through many trials and tribulations...and through the flurry of critiques, the REFFs settled into a small body of artistically talented, and extremely close friends.
And that's where we are today~! Long live art, and most importantly, friendship!
